Difference…so often overlooked…every day…all day…in every interaction…always trying to find something wrong…blaming this or that…not seeing in our lack awareness what is truly going on…parents to children…husband to wife…girlfriend to boyfriend…coworker to coworker…friend to friend…human to stranger…human to every other living being…calling it love and caring…believing its love and caring…not seeing what lies beneath…comparing others to some already existing model…resulting in cruelty…it is cruelty…making the other wrong…like something is the matter with them because you do not understand…certain behaviors…attitudes…experiences…trying to find something wrong because we are not able to acknowledge the difference…to see beyond ourselves…that I am different than you…and you are different then me…
Seeing the beauty in the other in their difference…that it is not a fault just because you cannot understand…where lack of understanding always leads to fear something you don’t understand…because it is not you so we are afraid of everyone and everything…making difference…uniqueness a mistake…something wrong…attributing all kinds of mental reasons…tunring people into labels…turning beauty into ugliness…just because you are functioning from a mental already existing view of the world. Treating one like the other, each animal, each plant, each person the same…ignoring their individual unique spirit…so simple yet so complicated for humans to see…and to see with their own unique eyes…so they do not have to harm…destroy each other’s spirit…
To see beyond ourselves…difference is not selfish…on the contrary…it allows us to see beyond ourselves…that I am not like you …you don’t have to be like me…not that I am the only one that is correct…the way I behave is real…the way…my way is better…and if you do not act that way you are less, there is someting not right with you…so everyone thinks they are the good one…the other is bad…because my way is the only way…one country to the next…one being to the next…is that not arrogance? Moral superiority? Is that not denying what life is? Adversity…so many trees, so many species of birds and so many cats and goats.
Was your cat Philip the same as you cat Murphy? Did you feel the same about them? Is your dog Rufus the same as your dog Lary? Did they act exactly the same? Did they have the same spirit? Was one more a good cat than the other? Did you tell Rufus he must fetch a stick like Lary did? And if not attribute that there is something wrong with him? Do you feel the same connection to your friend Beatrice as you do with your friend Martha? Do you have the same relationship, connection, experience to Ronaldo as you have to Joseph? Have not all your interactions with every person been different? Can you ever experience the same thing with one human as with another? Is it not unique and always different?
It’s never the same…never the same…you can have some similarities…but it is never the same…each moment is never the same…each moment is forever gone…can never be re-created…
Is my touch the same as Daphne’s? My hugs the same as Dolore’s…am I less of a person because my hugs are not like Dolore’s or Ronaldo’s? Are hers more correct than mine? Or is it just different? What feels more correct for you? Dolore’s, Daphne’s or Ronaldo’s?
And don’t just nod your head…feel it…experience it within your body…live it…be real with yourself so you can be real with life…respecting each spirit…respecting life…an empowerer of everyone’s spirit…a lover of everyone’s unique spirit…a lover of life…a living organism within life…
